Ballmer Helps Unveil Armani Samsung B7620 Smartphone

Ballmer Helps Unveil Armani Samsung B7620 Smartphone It must be hard for the fashion conscious to choose a phone that matches their style. Now that choice has been made easier though, with Samsung and Armani working together to create the B7620 – a high-end mobile phone that is not just fashionable but also has business handset functionality.

Designer Giorgio Armani, who made a personal appearance during the launch of the B7620, told those in attendance that the touchscreen phone would co-ordinate “perfectly with Giorgio Armani suits” and that it would “perfect for today’s managers”.

Down to business – the phone will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.5, and will feature a document reader, which allows users to view attachments created in all key Microsoft Office packages, and a QWERTY keyboard (pictured above) revealed by using a “unique two-step 30-degree tilt hinge”.

The bronzed B7620 will go on sale for around £700. For that price, users will be getting a powerful processor, a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED (480x800) screen, 8GB of internal memory and a 5MP autofocus camera. The external memory slot will allow users to boost capacity by up to 32GB.

For networking the 164-gram smartphone features HSDPA (7.2Mbps), HSUPA (5.76Mbps), GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth® 2.0, USB 2.0, micro USB, and Wi-Fi connectivity. A-GPS navigation is built in too.

As well as being able to handle most kinds of audio and video files, the phone has an FM radio and will allow fashionistas to use online widgets, which can be accessed through the web browser (Opera 9.5).

Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, said: “Windows phones bring together the best of the Web, the PC, and mobile phones so that people can connect instantly to the experiences they care about. But people want more than just a useful device – they want a phone that offers design qualities that match their personality and lifestyle.”

JK Shin, executive vice-president at the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer, said: “This latest-generation mobile masterfully combines our experience in technology with a design from one of the world’s best known designers and the functions offered by Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. What’s more, the Giorgio Armani-Samsung smartphone is a demonstration of our commitment to offering customers cutting-edge technology in our products, along with exclusive design and fashion.”

This isn’t the first time Samsung have collaborated with Armani, with their previous efforts having produced the P520 and the Emporio Armani Night Effect M7500.

I guess it looks OK

I really think it needs a suitcase handle attached to the side to make it easier to carry.
