Windows Mobile OS - Lucky Number 7

Windows Mobile OS - Lucky Number 7 Windows has recently lost its dominating position in the mobile market thanks to the intense competition of Google and Apple.

In an attempt to claw back the top spot, the popular operating system company is launching Windows Mobile 7. One of the main overhauls to hit the latest mobile firmware is a clean, smooth-cut user interface. Based on 2D blocks of colour, the aesthetics are simple but allow easy navigation.

Engadget has dubbed the effect as "parallax" and "reminiscent of 16-bit side-scrollers". The simple yet cool approach means that the user isn't distracted from the information and features of the device by an in-your-face interface.

The software responds to the user's touch much faster than most firmwares out at the moment. It has been reported that there is a lack of significant lag and the swift transitions between screens give a speedy navigation experience. In their in-depth preview, Engadget said that "in fact, this is probably the most accurate and nuanced touch response this side of iOS4".

Similar to Android, Window Mobile 7 features a drop-down notification box which displays new SMS messages and notices for the user.

The new operating system even does away with the contact book. A new "People" app takes the place of the traditional number database. All of the user's contacts, from Facebook to IM, are pooled into one single hub. Statuses are displayed and their latest Facebook photo appears when they call.

The device's pictures are also handled in similar way. Simply named "Pictures", the app displays the user's snaps taken on the handset and photos from online services. Also the application features a photo stream, displaying what’s new in the world of you and your friends.

In attempt to compete for the Christmas market, the latest user interface from Microsoft will be launching in late 2010.
