Vodafone Expands Android Range with Wildfire and Galaxy S

Vodafone Expands Android Range with Wildfire and Galaxy S Vodafone has launched two new Android devices - the HTC Wildfire and the Samsung Galaxy S.

Being pitched as a 'teen friendly' touchscreen, the HTC Wildfire brings the Sense User Interface to 18-25 year olds on a budget. Among the high-end features on offer is the 5MP camera with auto-focus and LED flash.

Beneath the multi-touch QVGA touchscreen comes Wi-Fi and HSDPA download speed. The handset, which runs Android 2.1, “works at a pretty cracking rate” according to TechRadar.com.

Mobile Choice dubbed the HTC handset “Desire-like”, which will delight those whose budget won’t stretch to the price tag of the high-end Desire model. The main plan the phone comes on also includes 500MB of mobile data - perfect for social networking.

Breaking out of the budget market is the Samsung Galaxy S, Vodafone's latest Android handset. Like the Wildfire, the device runs 2.1 but comes with more premium features on board.

The handset packs a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen, creating a bright and vivid display. The 1GHz Snapdragon processor also sees the device running smoothly and swiftly, while the 16GB of storage means plenty of space for media and email.

Other features on offer include the 5MP camera which can shoot in HD. The phone can then be hooked up to a TV to display your snaps and films in glorious high definition.

Exclusive to Vodafone, Samsung’s Galaxy S is the company's latest crack at the Android OS. The phone comes with 1GB of data for more intensive internet surfing.

It's clear that Vodafone has embraced the recent surge in Android handsets. The introduction of new models is combined with the new 360 Shop - Vodafone’s version of the successful Android app store.
