Virgin Mobile Pick Up Vodafones Dropped HTC HD2
Virgin Mobile has decided to launch the stylish and attractive HTC HD2 phone after it was unceremoniously dumped by Vodafone.
Vodafone has decided to focus on the smartphone market, concentrating on iPhone and Google's new Nexus One. To that end, the HTC HD2 and the exclusive deal for the Xperia X2 have been dropped.
However, Vodafone's decision may be have been a blessing in disguise, as the HTC phone has been picked up by Virgin Mobile for its customers on a rather cheap deal
The device comes with some nifty features; a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with two LED flashes, WiFI, FM Radio, microSD Slot and GPS. HTC's own signature Sense User Interface, packs a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.
Even better sounding is that the Virgin Mobile contract, which costs £30 per month, provides you with 800 minutes, unlimited texts and internet (up to 3GB) on a 24-month contract, according to ITProPortal.
Customers can also go for the 18-month contract which will cost £444.99 in total and comes with 100 minutes and 100 texts. The unlocked version costs £50 more at Expanys but comes with £30 vouchers.
ITProPortal reported that Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media, said in a statement announcing the launch that “The HTC HD2 is a stunning handset and the first-ever HTC-branded phone ranged by Virgin Media. Its launch kick starts a new range of high-end handsets coming to Virgin Media, perfect for mobile internet, social networking and entertainment on the go.”
Existing Virgin Media customers can also claim from Virgin Mobile two months free rental worth up to £60 and unlimited calls to other Virgin mobile customers.
