Virgin Mobile Internet Ad Wows Public

Virgin Mobile Internet Ad Wows Public Virgin Media adverts are returning to our screens after a three year hiatus. The new advertising campaign promotes Virgin's mobile internet services.

Designed by the WPP ad agency, the new multimillion pound commercial, which is the first since 2006, is to be part of the company’s “powerful stuff” marketing strategy which is designed to connect with customers on an emotional level.

The last campaign was drenched in celebrity, with appearances from Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, supermodel Kate Moss and singer Buster Rhymes. However, this time Virgin is steering clear of celebrities and has focussed on delivering the message that its mobile phone Internet can brighten up the monotony of everyday life.

The advertising campaign, which includes online and street ads, TV and press is set to last for five weeks and features a track by US Indie-rock band Mazzy Star called Into Dust.

The ad, entitled Fantastic Journey, begins by showing a man boarding a train. While he is using his mobile phone, the everyday scenes, with passengers seated at tables inside the train, keeps changing with a host of fast-changing scenes involving friends and family with more animated expressions, together with music and games.

Ashley Stockwell, executive director of brand and marketing at Virgin Media commented: “This is an ad that really packs a punch. We wanted to engage people on an emotional level and show them just how much the mobile internet can bring to them, from social media and music to film clips and games, all for less than the price of a packet of crisps.”
