The Virgin VM800 is Pretty in Pink

The Virgin VM800 is Pretty in Pink Alcatel and Virgin have joined forces to launch the VM800 – a slick smartphone in eye-catching pink.

Since Alcatel is one of the leaders in the budget market, users will be able to get their hands on the phone without forking out too much from their pockets.

In a recent press release, Virgin media commented: "Featuring Opera Mini as its mobile browser, web pages on the VM800 are optimised for speed and viewing experience, giving a ‘large screen’ experience in the palm of your hand. For those that like to share and poke, the handset features instant access to popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Bebo."

With social networking in mind, the phone features a full QWERTY keyboard to tap out statuses and comment on friends’ profiles. A 2MP camera is perfect for quick snaps and with Bluetooth on board there is plenty of connectivity.

With an expandable memory (up to 4GB) and a media player, users will have plenty of scope for photos and music. A stated 9-hour talk time also means users can get a fair whack out of a single charge.

Customising the handset is also easy with handy shortcuts. The unique scroll wheel also means the user can navigate pages swiftly and even bring up a widget bar. Mobile Choice had this to say on the Virgin/Alcatel device: "Not bad at all for a budget phone."

Perhaps the biggest news about Alcatel’s take on the BlackBerry format is that the device now comes with a generous 6 months free internet access. With EDGE connectivity to boot, the user can navigate the internet carefree and fairly speedily for half of the year.

For less than £40, users can grab the device at a price which definitely shouldn’t break the bank.

The best phone ever!!!

This phone is absolutely the best ever phone I've had since my first phone. I have only had it a few days and I know how to work it and when you pay £15 a month you get over 1,000 free texts and games and Internet access.

Help! My Alcatel VM800 has barred all calls, outgoing and incoming. It says I need a password. Does anyone know this?

Re:barred calls

There is a security number on the side of the SIM card (that the instructions say keep). It has the number on there to unbar the phone.

Re:Confused :S

Easy - just go on Bluetooth, make sure it's on, and just click on the song. Press Options - should say Send. Then press Send By Bluetooth. If not, just look in the instructions.

Re:Question

Yes, I unlocked mine but the 6 months free web won't go on any other SIM apart from Virgin Media.
