Swiss to get access to more mobile TV channels

Swiss to get access to more mobile TV channels A new service is to be added to Swisscom's mobile TV menu.

Bluewin TV mobile will be available on the new Digital Video Broadcasting Handheld (DVB-H) network in a quality which the company claims is as good as the quality experienced on home television sets with customers able to access 20 channels.

Choosing what to watch will be simple thanks to an electronic programme guide and navigation key to help customers zap between channels.

Swisscom's multimedia applications already include a 100-second news broadcast, Napster mobile and the Vodafone live! portal.

DVB-H coverage in Switzerland already reaches 44 per cent of the population. Customers in and around Basel, Berne, Geneva, Zurich and Lausanne will be able to receive Uefa Euro 2008 coverage to see if the Swiss can win a competition for which England failed to qualify.

Bluewin TV mobile via DVB-H will be on offer from 13 May 2008.

The Nokia N77 - a DVB-H-enabled handest - will be on sale at all Swisscom sales outlets.
