Sir Ralph Fiennes Unveils New S1 Mobile Phone by Sonim Land Rover, together with Sonim Technologies, have launched the new Land Rover S1, a sturdy high quality phone designed for lovers of the great outdoors, says carpages.co.uk.

It was the world’s greatest living explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes who unveiled the new phone.

The new handset has passed all the tests needed to reach IP-67 GSM standard meaning that it is totally resistant to dirt, dust, shocks and being dropped. It is also resistant to extreme pressure of up to 400 kgs and is totally waterproof to one metre in depth for up to 30 minutes.

Land Rover is proud of its range of high quality, long lasting products and its new Land Rover S1 handset will add to its reputation.

The features of the Land Rover S1 include a new 2-megapixel waterproof camera with built-in flash, built-in GPS, FM radio, torch light J2ME Java for Mobile and a 2 GB memory slot. It has an in-built Opera Mini WAP browser and Bluetooth.

Land Rover’s global licensing manager Lindsay Weaver said that the company was very excited about the new handset, which, in common with their vehicles was extremely capable and designed to work “in the toughest of environments”. She added that its IP-67 rating is “a first for a commercially available GSM handset and is operational in temperatures ranging from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius and backed by an unconditional three-year guarantee”.

Ms Weaver added: “We have worked with Sonim to ensure that the phone not only meets their stringent criteria of ruggedness, but also to ensure that it is a true Land Rover product.”
