Samsung Launches New Social Networking Phone on Orange

Samsung Launches New Social Networking Phone on Orange The new Samsung S5600, specifically targeted at enthusiastic social networkers, has now been launched by Orange in the UK for the first time, according to a report from mobilenewscwp.co.uk.

The new model has full touchscreen and is equipped with Orange Windows Live. It gives users access to their favourite applications by the addition of mobile widgets with the one-click facility.

There is also the new smile shot, available on the 3.2-megapixel camera, Shazam’s “Find Music” and an expandable memory slot giving an extra 8GB of storage.

Vice president of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland Mark Mitchinson said: “The Samsung S5600 offers a truly stylish design and an intuitive user interface for the most image conscious mobile users. For social networking enthusiasts the S5600’s widget and full internet browsing capabilities mean they will never miss out on a status update or the latest photos ever again.”

The trade body for the industry, the GSM Association, has spoken of the recent surge in the use of social networking sites over mobile networks. CEO Robert Conway said: “We are seeing the tip of an iceberg of usage of social networking via mobile,” according to The Evening Standard.

Mr Conway added that “an explosion of social networking use” has arisen from the growth in smartphones and netbooks with Internet connections. This would only partly address the economic difficulties suffered by the mobile industry in the current recession, but attention has now been turning to emerging markets which are attracting rising interest.

The current need is, he said, for a single platform to allow mobile customers to use the same services.
