Quad-Core HTC Edge Due in 2012
Next year’s Mobile World Congress will be HTC’s moment to unveil the HTC Edge, a beast of a phone adorned with a quad-core processor and Android's latest OS iteration, Ice Cream Sandwich.
According to pocketnow.com, who claim to have information from a “reliable source”, a 720p resolution, 4.7-inch screen will sit nicely on a body about 1mm thicker than the iPhone 4S (at 9.3mm) and its camera specs aren’t too shabby either – an 8MP, f/2.2 aperture lens will let you take some lovely bright pictures. And they’ll be big too.
Most of the other specs of the soon-to-be-released HTC Rezound are thought to be found in the Edge, including Beats audio (inspired by Dr Dre’s tremendously fashionable audio range) and 1 gigabyte of RAM. Improvements include 32GB of internal storage against 16, and the possibility of including version 4.0 of HTC Sense, the company’s own take on mobile user interfaces.
New forms of content distribution from HTC could find their way on to the phone too, with HTC Read, Listen, Watch and Play respectively offering books, music, films and games that would all look delicious on the crisp screen.
The unfortunate thing? The MWC (Mobile World Congress) will be held in Barcelona from 27th February to 1st March 2012, meaning we’ll have to wait a little while to see what HTC is really up to with this potential monster of a phone. The “reliable source” states that it could be released around the end of Q1 and the beginning of Q2 next year, but the “reliable source” could also be a bored teenager from Wolverhampton, so everything must be taken with a pinch of salt at this juncture.
