Puma Unleash Powerful Solar Mobile Phone

Puma Unleash Powerful Solar Mobile Phone A new type of mobile phone, due to go in sale in April, has been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, taking place in Barcelona this week.

The new handset has been designed by the sportswear brand Puma in partnership with Sagem. The unique mobile has the ability to recharge its battery from the sun using solar panels mounted on the back of the casing.

Other special features of the Puma mobile phone include a special operating system developed by Puma in collaboration with Sagem, a pedometer, stopwatch and GPS tracker. These enable users to follow their own routes in running or cycling, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Additional features are available for download from the Puma website, which the company says will make it possible to “aggregate rich media content services in to a single intuitive interface and entertaining mobile user experience.”

Jochen Zeitz, CEO of Puma said of the Puma phone that it is “unlike any other mobile phone on the market”. He added: “We want to engage with our community in a way that is consistent with everything Puma stands for. Blending together the influences of sport, lifestyle and fashion, this phone reflects the joy, spontaneity and individuality that the Puma brand is known for.”

The new mobile phone was highly popular with technical experts and industry analysts at the Mobile World Congress. One analyst Ben Wood said that he was impressed by all the thought and detail that accompanied the device and that “other phone makers with ageing software platforms on their cheaper devices could learn a thing or two from the Puma phone”.

Looks good

Phone looks interesting from what I see but unsure where the operating system might go with others working hard. May end up with a shortage of apps.
