Orange boss plots market comeback
Orange's new chief executive wants the company to be the leading mobile phone provider in the UK by 2012, it has been reported.
Orange have slipped behind market leaders O2 and Vodafone, but new boss - and former chief executive of Virgin Mobile - Tom Alexander is launching new products and hiring more staff to help meet his target.
Tom Alexander said: "I would like to be the best-loved communications brand so that everyone wants to go out and buy Orange, stay with Orange and recommend it to their friends. I want to be number one."
Alexander hopes to entice customers back by offering a free laptop with every mobile broadband device.
"If we get the hearts and minds of customers and really deliver on quality, the numbers will be there, the profits will be there and the usage will be there," said Mr Alexander.
Orange announced it will hire 400 new employees to work in 60 new high street stores, according to reports.
