O2 Hypertag campaign wins award
A promotional campaign that took place outside O2 stores over Christmas has won an award.
Over the busy Christmas period, consumers who participated in the promotion were able to download a promotional voucher for the iTouch outside O2 stores by interacting over Bluetooth with wearable 'Hypertags' worn by promoters.
The success of the campaign meant that it has been recognised as Best Location-based Advertising Technology at the 2008 MAMAs (the Mobile Advertising and Marketing Awards).
Louise Burgess, retail campaigns manager at O2, said: "Using Hypertags again enabled our latest sales campaign to involve consumers with the iTouch in an effective way that achieved great success and allowed us to take advantage of one of the busiest shopping weekends over Christmas."
In other O2-related news, the head of O2 UK yesterday reaffirmed the mobile phone giant's commitment to its Glasgow contact centre, which employs about 1,500 staff, after unveiling a "very good" first-quarter performance.
Ronan Dunne told the Scotsman: "We've been very pleased with the performance in Glasgow. Establishing the new centre in Scotland has given greater flexibility and allowed us to have dedicated teams for iPhone and broadband."
