Nokia X3 Touch and Type Unveiled
So far, the mobile market has mainly been divided between touchscreen and keypad models. With Nokia's new X3, however, the two camps find a happy medium.
The suitably named Nokia X3 Touch and Type sports not only a 4x3, 12-key numeric keypad, but also a fully sensitive touchscreen. The handset is available in five vibrant colours, sure to appeal to younger customers.
The device also hosts several mid-range features. 3G and WLAN are present in the phone's hardware, alongside the impressive 5MP camera, capable of movie recording and offering a 4x digital zoom. The keypad is supplemented by two shortcut keys; one for the new music system and one for messaging.
Nokia has provided the X3 with its Ovi services, ensuring that the phone has the capability to run the thousands of apps available from the Ovi Store. Ovi e-mail accounts and push notifications can also be activated for Nokia's latest offers and news.
The X3 features dedicated keys for music and messaging services, allowing users to access Ovi social networking and other entertainment functions.
Another benefit of Ovi is the new music download system, available in some markets. Although launched in 2008, the previously named Comes With Music service met a poor commercial reception, despite a significant marketing promotion.
With the latest rebranding, the service became Ovi Music Unlimited and is now associated with the Ovi Store. Music tracks from the charts have "virtually limitless" usage on the X3, as reported by Mobile Today. The new X3 handset is expected to be available to UK users in autumn 2010.
