Nokia Introduce Point and Find Portal

Nokia Introduce Point and Find Portal Nokia is stepping up its presence in the social media world with its new online mobile service, Point & Find. The service allows users to create and share multimedia files in an intuitive way that emphasises ease of customer use. Although still being tested in beta format, Nokia’s "mobile discovery platform" is available to use now through the net.

How the service works is quite simple, with users being able to create a ‘world’ from their own experiences and customising it. This does incur a subscription cost. Nokia uses the Camden Crawl festival as an example, whereby the organisers created a world that allowed visitors to access advertising such as flyers and posters simply by pointing their mobiles. They could then connect to Camden Crawl sites.

The Point & Find service also allows users to create a directory, putting images together with what you are doing in terms of the content added and the actions taken. Organisation of the directory is simple and easily navigated.

The service also enables you to add tags and manage them. These tags are links to external physical content such as a poster or an object, and dictate what action happens when someone points their phone at things. It is easy to utilise: users can just point their Nokia handset at something physical and either name it or match it to what already exists in the directory. These tags connect users to in depth internet details, not merely links to sites.

The service is secure and users can choose what access if any, people have to their worlds. It is a free service and is currently available for N95 devices in the UK.
