Nokia 5250 for Music On a Budget
Nokia has released the new 5250 – a Symbian handset to add to its already growing range.
Aimed at students and younger consumers, the new 5250 is centred around music. Running Symbian S50 5th Edition OS, the phone has plenty of scope for customisation, and also comes in a range of vivid colours.
With a respectable 2.8-inch touchscreen, the phone combines economic form with a decent viewing window. Features are good given the low price tag, with GPRS and EDGE connectivity providing a decent Internet experience. The phone comes as a replacement for the successful Nokia 5230, but borrows its looks from the upmarket X6.
As with many handsets lately the phone has a strong focus on social networking. Loaded with apps such as Facebook and providing access to the Ovi Store, the phone will grow with the user. The 2MP camera is also perfect for social networking, taking good quality snaps to post straight onto the user's profile.
51MB of built-in memory will hold a few tunes but has the ability to be expanded up to 16GB. This means the user can hold around 4,000 songs on the handset – enough for even the most avid music listener. An FM radio is also on board, rounding off the music experience.
As a bonus, the latest Nokia device comes with Guitar Hero 5 Mobile as standard. Users can jam along to rock classics when they fancy a change from their own music collection.
Carrying a €115 price tag, the 5250 becomes one of the cheapest Symbian touchscreen handsets to date at launch. The Nokia handset should be available mid September.
