New ZTE Mobile Influenced by Palm Pre

New ZTE Mobile Influenced by Palm Pre The Chinese manufacturer ZTE has been influenced by the Palm design and has based its new ZTE Smooth mobile phone along the same principles.

The Palm Pre is proving to be quite a benchmark in the industry with Alcatel designing its OT-980 along the same lines. Now ZTE, a company known predominantly for making own brand phones for Vodafone is following the trend.

The new ZTE Smooth features Android 1.6 operating system. It has a 2.8-inch touchscreen with a 240 x 320 pixel QVGA resolution. It sports a QWERTY keyboard for easy use as well as GPS and Bluetooth 2.0 as standard. For those who want entertainment from their mobiles, an FM radio is included. UMTS connectivity also features as well as WiFi.

According to reports on the Mobile Choice UK website, the ZTE Smooth is primarily aimed at the Chinese market but it is expected to be available in other areas of the world soon. August is the month when it is anticipated that the ZTE Smooth will be launched and although there is no word on pricing, estimates believe it to be priced around the £100 mark.

Although this is a Chinese phone, the Smooth is due to be sold in other territories too. At its low benchmark price the ZTE Smooth would be an attractive option for the UK mobile market and a very affordable Android phone.

However as yet there is no news to confirm whether the phone will be released in the UK market.
