Motorola invests in software manufacturer
Motorola has announced that it has made an equity investment in a maker of virtualisation software for communications devices and infrastructure equipment.
VirtualLogix, which is headquartered in California, is the company that will benefit from the investment, the financial terms of which have not been disclosed.
The software manufacturer is a specialist in real-time virtualisation - an innovative technology that hopes to shape the future for communications devices and equipment.
Their technology enables the mobility of applications from the desktop to devices and enhances quality of service and security in an open mobile world.
It allows multiple operating systems to run on shared hardware.
Reese Schroeder, managing director of Motorola Ventures, said: "Our investment in VirtualLogix will help accelerate the delivery of their technology to next-generation communications devices and infrastructure equipment."
Peter Richards, CEO of VirtualLogix, commented: "Leading electronics manufacturers are looking to leverage the VirtualLogix technology to create products with improved security, manageability, and customisation."
Motorola is the world's third-biggest mobile manufacturer.
