Modu T is Light to The Touch

Modu T is Light to The Touch Mobile phone manufacturer modu has released what it has claimed to be the world’s lightest touchscreen handset.

With a tiny 1.3-inch display, it certainly is one of them. The handset, though smaller than a credit card, allows you to add jackets to it in order to increase its versatility.

These jackets literally transform the handset into what the user happens to need at the time. They can turn the handset into a digital camera and then later view the snaps by slotting the handset into a specially made digital photo frame.

These jackets do come at an extra cost, but it allows users to just pay for the features that they want, rather than shell out for a whole package that includes features that they don’t. One of the most exciting jackets is the music player module, which includes a decent-sized speaker.

The phone’s potential has caught the attention of many big music bosses.

Rob Wells, senior vice-president of digital at Universal Music Group International said: “What modu have done is incredible. Their revolutionary platform has opened up mobile phones to new music products and services that simply didn’t exist before modu came along. UMG takes the mobile channel seriously, and our strategic partnership with modu reflects the potential we see in this dynamic and exciting market."

The basic handset won’t hit your wallet too hard either. The tiny phone comes preloaded with content and apps and is only sold SIM-free. The small mobile with big features will be eagerly expected in stores by the end of 2010.
