Microsoft OneApp Service Launch

Microsoft OneApp Service Launch OneApp from Microsoft is a software application that enables users to run mobile apps. These include the popular social networking sites Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger and Mobile Wallet.

OneApp also offers a cloud service, which enables users to access apps that are not on their own phones. The app is very handy in that it takes up very little space.

“OneApp is a technology that is going to help people do things they couldn’t do before - anything from paying their bills to helping diagnose their health issues or just staying connected with friends and family,” revealed Amit Mital, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential Group and Startup Business Accelerator said to Mobile Choice.

OneApp has been specifically designed for feature phones, appearing on a phone as a single application. According to Microsoft website, “it dynamically launches just the parts of an app that a person wants to use, eliminating additional installation time and the need to store all of their mobile apps on their phone.”

The new app eliminates the need to access many different sites to look for the right app. Apps are automatically updated. It works as a lightweight footprint of 150 KB for fast installation on a wide range of phones.

“When people see these apps running on a feature phone, their eyes light up. It's pretty exciting. What we're letting you do is get access to the applications and services you want from a device you already own,” said Tim McDonough, Microsoft’s senior director of Mobile Product Management.
