Microsoft Deny Zune Mobile Rumours
Microsoft remains firm that it has no intentions of creating a Zune mobile phone handset.
Microsoft would need to develop a mobile phone radio hardware and software in order to make a Zune phone. In the absence of any leaked details of such developments taking place, Microsoft almost certainly are not planning a Zune mobile.
New rumours buzzing around the internet though have led to the suspicion that Zune could be implemented in other ways on other devices for Microsoft.
According to CEO Steve Ballmer confirmed that there would be no Zune Mobile, but that Microsoft may still license Zune to other mobile makers including devices from LG, Samsung and HTC.
The other big news concerns Microsoft's developments of Windows Mobile 7. The company is said to be working on two editions: Business and Multimedia with requirements to power films, photos, videos and other content. It may be a good idea to have Zune integration on the Media edition to make Windows Mobile more consumer friendly.
On the other hand, according to softpedia.com, there are unconfirmed rumours that, spotted in the latest Zune software update, are two Zune handsets being included in the so-called Pink Project. The two devices have been code-named Pmx Pure and Pmx Turtle, with Pmx indicating Microsoft’s Premium Mobile experiences group.
Engadget said: “If that's not enough, two PMX table entries pointed to a snippet of text stating that 'Studio members' can 'View and manage pictures and videos taken with your phone at the Studio,' followed by a link that for now redirects to Zune.net. Could the mysterious Project Pink and the oft-rumored 'Zune phone' be one in the same, with some 'Studio' service for uploading media to the cloud?”
As yet exact details have yet to be officially confirmed and new handsets may be launched at the coming Mobile World Congress events in Barcelona.
