Jaxtr offers international calls via web
Internet mobile phone company, jaxtr has released information about its new service, allowing customers to call any mobile in the world for a respectable fee.
jaxtr, which has long been offering customers free calls to other jaxtr subscribers via the web, has now put up an offer allowing customers to call a cellphone in any country, whether it's on Jaxtr or not, without facing hefty charges.
"Making international calls to friends, family, and business colleagues on your mobile phone has never been cheaper or easier," said Konstantin Guericke, CEO of jaxtr.
"You simply dial a local number on your mobile, press the green talk button, and your friend's phone rings overseas. You'll never have to hassle with the inconvenience of calling cards again."
The service is similar to that offered by Skype, which connects users to one another via the internet, but jaxtr has the benefit of being available on a mobile phone in the same way customers buy credit for their top-up phones.
The company does not offer its services for free but rates are good, depending on what kind of call a customer makes, and jaxtr takes a large chunk of revenue from its advertising income, which it creates by adding 40-character advertisements at the end of SMS messages sent by jaxtr customers.
