ITV opens up its archive to iPhone owners

ITV opens up its archive to iPhone owners Owners of Apple's iPhone will now have access to 260 hours of classic ITV programmes via the iTunes store.

Brideshead Revisited is just one of the programmes to be found on iTunes. First screened in 1981, it starred Jeremy Irons, Laurence Olivier and Anthony Andrews - whose character spent much of the series clutching a teddy bear.

Comedy drama series Cold Feet is also likely to be another iTunes favourite. Over 32 episodes it helped launch the careers of James Nesbitt (Tesco ads), Helen Baxendale (Friends) and John Thomson (The Fast Show).

Even more nostalgically there is the 1960s Gerry Anderson puppet drama, Captain Scarlet.

Fans of Inspector Morse will have to wait until later this year to view the programme on their handsets - in the meantime they will have to make do with spin-off series Lewis.

Viewers can download whole series, with prices per episode starting at £1.89.

Unfortunately, current shows will not be put on iTunes, although more recent programmes may become available 30 days after first being aired.
