How to Turn iPhones Into Web Servers

How to Turn iPhones Into Web Servers It seems that iPhone is constantly finding new apps to attract the market. Just when you think it can do everything, the company offers more! This newly released software, ServersMan@iPhone, is an app allowing your Apple iPhone to transform itself into a website server, revealing your iPhone as a website.

Although this function has been made available before, it was previously only possible with 'jail broken' iPhones. It is the first time that the concept of becoming a website has been available for the standard iPhone model.

All you have to do is install the software on your iPhone, and this will allow other computers to upload and download files through a browser. Users can also use the webDAV protocol. A PC can also connected directly, if the PC and the iPhone are on the same network. Even if they are using separate networks, FreeBit's VPN software can still engage the connection.

The software, ServersMan@iPhone, was developed by a Japanese developer in Tokyo. The name ServersMan is inspired by Sony's classic WalkMan. The company behind the software, FreeBit invited Sony's former CEO Nobuyuki Idei as business advisor for the company.

Currently, the ServersMan@iPhone is available only in the Japanese App Store, however, sources have announced that an English version will be forthcoming, probably in March. The company has stated that a port for Windows Mobile devices is also under development and should be available as soon as the technology is ready.
