Google Pulls Nexus One from Online Retail

Google Pulls Nexus One from Online Retail Giant search engine Google has made the decision to stop selling its Nexus One handset online. It has decided to concentrate on retail outlets instead.

The reason for Google’s decision is the disappointing results it had been experiencing from its website sales. Andy Rubin Google’s VP of engineering said on the company’s blog that “with every innovation, some parts worked better than others.”

Mr Rubin added that while the uptake worldwide of the Android operating system had been enormously successful, the webstore had failed to meet expectations. Customers, he said, prefer to try out the device before they decide to purchase and have before them a broad range of service plans to choose from.

The website method had been great in the early stages of selling the handset but now the company had to rethink its selling strategies, said an article in itproportal.com.

Google had been engaged in a short, intensive trial with the Nexus One in which it had tried to change its sales methods, but sales figures proved that a further change was needed. Google had used the site to promote other smartphones such as the Droid, and concentrated over much on other handsets from its partners.

The main thing is that Google’s mobile phones are run on the Android platform. Google is still up to speed despite this particular setback with its website sales.

The mobile phone industry is experiencing unprecedented growth and development and is indeed the fastest growing over the last few quarters. The company should experience success with its Nexus One, despite the failure of its website to deliver.
