Google Give Sneak Preview of Android 1.5

Google Give Sneak Preview of Android 1.5 The Android version 1.5 is Google Android Developers' newest innovation of this technology. Google is releasing an "early look" version of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for those interested in the updated version of Android.

The SDK includes a preview of the open source mobile platform's cupcake branch, which has been specifically designed to be flexible and interchangable. Users should be able easily switch between platforms as they try the new look Android 1.5 with the current Android 1.1 version.

New features included in the updated version include home screen widgets, soft keyboards, live folders and speech recognition. There are also new APIs and developer tools such as the Home Screen framework, with give users the freedom to create their own home screen widgets and live folders.

A Media framework allows recording and audio playback, with video files and speech recognition. This framework is connected to libraries via the Internet.

Another new feature is add-on functionality, which allows extensions from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and carriers.

The version will not only include new features, but also improve upon existing ones. Existing Android functionality improvements include performance enhancements such as camera start-up time, GPS acquisition and browser scrolling.

The expected release date for the Android 1.5 SDK is the end of April 2009. It is also expected that Vodafone will release the HTC Magic Android-based Smartphone in the UK by 1 May 2009.
