Free Skype Calls for Businesses on 3 Mobile

Free Skype Calls for Businesses on 3 Mobile PBK add-on maker VoSKY has announced a new way for businesses to make free Skype calls on the 3 network providing they shell out £900 to upgrade their IP PBX. This is a new opportunity for business subscribers to cut their costs drastically, by making Skype-to-Skype calls from their mobiles, according to Techworld.com.

The new scheme would make office-to-office calls free for subscribers to enable them to communicate wherever they are in the world. It would also benefit office workers within an enterprise to call employees who are roaming with mobiles.

David Tang of VoSKY said after the announcement from 3 last week: “Every VoSKY gateway has a Skype ID and it will show up on the network. All you need now is a 3 phone and a VoSKY gateway and you have fixed-mobile convergence.”

Mr Tang added that prior to this development it had not been possible to route internet–based VoIP calls such as Skype from mobile phones without incurring a charge for the mobile-to-network cell connection. This news from 3 UK has removed the cost restrictions so that businesses can benefit from this technology.

To obtain the free calls, users must download a version of Skype from the 3 network and need a compatible phone with a compatible 3 SIM. There are various types of VoSKY hardware depending on how many concurrent lines are needed and the type of PBX but the main thing is that the PBX used must be IP compatible.

At the moment, users can purchase entry level Exchange 9040 at a cost of £900 which has the ability to support four concurrent Skype lines. However, a company spokesman said that VoSKY is bringing out a new more expensive model, the VIS8, in the next few months, which will be capable of supporting more concurrent lines and can be used on its own without the need to plug into a PC for setup.
