Free Landline Calls to Mobiles from Virgin Media

Free Landline Calls to Mobiles from Virgin Media Virgin Media has announced that it is to be the first company to offer free calls from landline to mobile phones in the UK. The company has estimated that their groundbreaking offer will save many families hundreds of pounds every year.

However, the offer is only available for calls to Virgin Media mobile phones. It is set to benefit those customers, who have friends and family using the same provider.

The free telephone calls to mobile phones are an extension of the company’s unlimited voice calls to UK landline deals available on Virgin Phone packages. It includes deals with bundled broadband and phone and comes into effect on 1 April 2010.

About 10 per cent of Virgin Media customers hold subscriptions to “quadplay” services which include broadband, TV, landline and mobile phone. The company estimates that nearly half a million customers will be encouraged to take advantage of this offer of free mobile calls from their Virgin landlines according to broadbandgenie.co.uk.

Virgin Media executive director of mobile and telephony Graeme Oxby said: “Our successful quadplay strategy has demonstrated customers are looking for exceptional value by bundling more services together, and this move to include free calls to mobiles with our home phone service underlines our commitment to ensure Virgin Media customers get the best deals possible.”

Virgin Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) of T-Mobile. MVNOs have agreements with traditional mobile phone operators to buy minutes for their own customers to use. This appears to be the route Virgin Media is taking.

Virgin free calls from landlines to mobiles

I have been with Virgin for 4 years, recently got 2 Virgin SIMs as I was promised this deal. They failed to put me on a different landline deal(extra £8/month) and in 3 weeks my phone bill is £112! I am in the progress of trying to rectify this through their BAD mis-selling. NOT MUCH IN LIFE IS REALLY FREE! And their customer support/care is slow as I still haven't been contacted by Virgin, but I expect they will want paying. THAT will be on hold! POOR VIRGIN -- I THOUGHT CUSTOMERS CAME FIRST.
