Facebook to provide free mobile games

Facebook to provide free mobile games Mobile phone gaming addicts will be pleased to hear that a new Facebook application is offering hundreds of free games to download to mobile phones.

In the first major attempt to provide free games based on advertising revenue, the application - named Swoopin - will encourage users not only to download games they like but also to share games they have on their own phones, which is the key to expanding the application.

Ubersoft is a Philippines-based company responsible for the application and already it has some 800 games on offer.

The development will almost certainly be one to watch, as the explosion of 3G mobile phones has meant that in future not only will people download things from Facebook and transfer them to their mobiles, but they will be accessing Facebook on their mobiles themselves, which should greatly enhance the number of downloads.

July will see several noteworthy launches, including the iPhone 3G, which was officially launched two weeks ago to great applause. The phone is likely to take the industry by storm thanks to the excitement around it but also due to the low price tag of £100 for the 8GB version.
