Cameron not the Culprit in O2 Crash

Cameron not the Culprit in O2 Crash In an interesting turn of events, the O2 network across the UK went down soon after newly appointed Prime Minister David Cameron entered Buckingham Palace.

Although many users darkly suggested that this was a sign of “things to come”, the O2 forum stated that the problem was in fact due to a construction accident.

During the historic event, many O2 users were dismayed to find that their network was down. According to user reports on paidContent:UK, users across the UK expressed their outrage on Twitter as well as calls to the provider’s call centres.

While users were able to send texts, they could not receive them. Some areas were not as badly affected as others, with users in Central London experiencing no break in service.

Users seem to have assumed that the problem was due to an increase in demand as a result of the new PM announcement.

The matter was cleared up with a post by O2, which said: “There has been a network failure at a YATEs point where construction work has knocked off the power. The whole of the O2 network in the UK is having problems due to this.”

The power failure affected both cellular and data services across the country. While some other operators were also affected, the majority of problems were experienced by O2 users.

A spokesperson for O2 indicated certainty that the problem would be “fixed fairly quickly”. Given the unfortunate timing of the outage, it should perhaps not be surprising that many jumped to the conclusion of political intervention.
