Bar Codes, Coupons and Vouchers on Your Mobile
i-movo, the world’s leading company behind the digital voucher system, has developed an even easier way for customers to redeem offers at retail outlets across the UK.
Currently, in order to make use of vouchers which are being offered by 30,000 outlets across the UK, consumers are sent a unique code to their phone by SMS. This is then typed into the shop’s system and the discount given. Participating organisations range from the Wild Bean Café to The Evening Standard.
The developments at i-movo will make it even easier for consumers to make the most of vouchers and offers at shops without having to go through this process.
Using an advanced WAPL system (Wapple Application Programming Language), bar codes can now be digitally enhanced, optimised and delivered to over 50,000 different mobile phone units. From here, the bar code can be scanned directly from the user’s phone screen.
The difficulty with this system used to be ensuring that the bar code was readable on almost every type of phone. This proved particularly difficult with the variety of screen sizes, software and hardware.
If the bar code was even slightly distorted it would not scan and so it was thought to be an impossible task to get this method right for most models and handsets. However, the WAPL approach has enabled i-movo to get around this issue.
This method has enabled the digital voucher system to be completely streamlined and automated. i-movo can keep track of exactly who is using the voucher system and where, whilst making the whole process much easier for both retailers and consumers.
