41 Per Cent Plan to Switch to iPhone 5

41 Per Cent Plan to Switch to iPhone 5 According to a new survey, 41 per cent of mobile phone users in the US, Mexico and Canada are planning to snap up a new iPhone 5.

The study, by mobile ad network InMobi, also found that 50 per cent of the people who said they were planning to grab the new Apple phone would aim to get one within 6 months of its release. If these figures prove accurate, the iPhone 5 will become Apple’s most spectacular product launch ever, according to InMobi.

The launch event for the new handset looks set for October 4, although the company has yet to confirm what will be unveiled on the day.

The huge rush to snap up the long-awaited iPhone 5 will shift the balance in terms of OS market share, and if the survey’s findings reflect reality then Apple’s share could grow to 41 per cent, up from 27 per cent in June 2011. In the breakdown of different mobile users, current iPhone users were the most likely to upgrade to the new phone, with 51 per cent planning on getting an iPhone 5 and 11 per cent planning on snapping up the possible iPhone 4S upgrade, should that happen instead of a brand-new handset.

Of Android users, 27 per cent said they would be switching to the new iPhone, and again 11 per cent said a new iPhone 4S would be in their sights. BlackBerry users were the most keen to upgrade, with 52 per cent of users wanting an iPhone 5 and 28 per cent opting for the 4S, if it appears.
